A Glimpse of NCSA's Role in Support of Science

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications ( NCSA ), a National cience Foundation High End Computing Center, is a preeminent global technology leader.  NCSA offers a range of high-performance computing resources to its user community-scientists in a variety of disciplines affiliated with various research institutions. It is currently well poised to define the high-performance cyberinfrastructure for scientists, engineers, and society. NCSA also serves as the leading edge site for the Alliance, a partnership for advanced computational infrastructure, that encompasses a 50 institution partnership. The center is also one of the four original partners in the TeraGrid project, a National Science Foundation initiative that now spans nine sites. When completed, the TeraGrid will be the most comprehensive cyberinfrastructure ever deployed for open scientific research, including high-resolution visualization environments, and computing software and toolkits connected over the world's fastest network. This talk will provide a glimpse of NCSA's role in the universe of science, technology and outreach, including the scientific breakthroughs and global collaborations that it has enabled.
